thats old dude
The lens is fine, Canon have a balancing act to perform, though – they want to supply a lens to a 'beginner/hobbyist' camera to get people to buy them – but they have to do it economically. The same goes for all manufacturers.
At the same time, they can't give you a lens that is no good. Anyway, that doesn't answer your question.
Photojournalists have a habit of carrying two bodies with a lens on each(and a couple of flashes etc). An increasing number of modern day journo's have a wide/normal zoom and a telephoto zoom. Your kit lens and a 70-200mm are good ranges. The difference between your lens(es) and photojournalists is the speed of them.
They run larger maximum apertures. And there's the rub. Cost.
You'd be paying $1300 for a Canon 24-70 f/2.8 and $1300-$1800 for a Canon 70-200 f/2.8 without or with Image Stabilization to get the speed they require. Sigma and Tamron will offer cheaper alternatives, of course.
You could ramp up the ISO on your camera to keep your shutter speeds high enough with your kit lens and the other lens you choose (and get away with it) but I doubt you can get away with only one body – things happen too fast for you to be able to change lenses at a moment's notice. The flashguns are pretty much essential, too.
If, by beginning photojournalist, you mean 'bit of a hobby because I see a load of celebs' then you're good to go. If, however, you're being paid to get results then you should consider ways of raising the capital to get a higher grade pair of bodies and faster lenses.
ISLANDIA, N.Y. (AP) — The tipoff was the sunglasses. A New Yorker faces a $135 traffic fine for using a mannequin as her plus-one in the high-occupancy lane of the Long Island Expressway. An alert sheriff’s deputy on Long Island became suspicious when he saw the “passenger” wearing sunglasses and using the visor. The only problem: The sky was overcast….

if their exacly in line with each other, it will create a never ending image. you will see he other mirror and in that yould see the other and in that youll see the other and so on, each time getting smaller because its further away. all of that makes no sence but go get 2 mirrors, point em at each other and youll get what im saying.
not right now chief, i’m in the fuckin zone.

On the back side of the glass there should be a little metal bar at the top with like a u shape on it,if this is missing a new mirror is needed. Place the mirror in place and once all the clips are back in,
(unless these little black clips are broken it will not hold, and a new one will be needed once again.)
This bar needs to be hooked over last with a little screwdriver.
Best of luck.
(wife has A class and has broken two wing mirrors,so have learnt from this.)
dior… chanel… they are pricey though.
uhm.. some sunglasses stores have some.
its not hard to find mirror ones…that are durable. =]

The camera you have has a KA2 mount system, which will accept a lens with KAF2, KAF, KA or K mount. So you need to find a lens with that kind of a mount.
Obviously we're talking about a used lens, since these aren't in production anymore, so you're going to need to search sites like ebay, craigslist, etc. I did an example search for you on ebay. In the Cameras&Photo>Lenses&Filters>Lenses section I chose Pentax and did a search for KA. Only one telephoto lens was returned, a Tokina SD 35-200mm f4-5.6 which can be had for 88 USD.
Check your local photo shops, too. I'm not talking about BestBuy, but a place that will develop prints and sell cameras to professional photographers. If they aren't directly selling used equipment, they'll know who is.
Good luck!

i had those instructions that FORD girl is talking about and it didn't work. It doesn't hurt to try it but if that doesn't work just go to your owners manual and the steps are in there for my Lincoln I just need to enter the code followed by pushing the lock and unlock in sequence and then the last two numbers on the door pad and all this is in my owners manual.
